Every time I try to connect to VATSIM though SB, it brings up the white and red dialog box saying its connecting to the server. However, it takes forever. This did not use to happen to me before, it used to do it within seconds, not it's taking minutes. Also, the bigger problem is that it's not showing any traffic. It is impossible to taxi around airports if you can't see the other aircrafts that are online. So far I've been given the advice to make sure I was on the SouthEast server, and I was, but it's still not woking. I've reinstalled the Online Flying Kit from DVA, but it hasn't seemed to help. Anybody know what could be wrong?
Thanks in advanced, Ricardo.

I have the same problem with not seeing any traffic. Makes me wonder if there is something else wrong with the server. I've been trying to figure this out all day and haven't found a solution yet. This could be a problem especially since I plan on doing the online event tonight and would like to see the other aircraft on the ground and in the air.

I had the same problem here. After spending some time searching forums I found the answer. Apparently our anti virus programs are blocking us from seeing each other. At first I could log in, but only see 1 aircraft at a time. I uninstalled my antivirus program, Trend Micro, and downloaded the free antivirus program AVG. Now when I log in I can see everyone. I am also using Microsoft's Firewall. Have not had any trouble yet. I found this info of off SB's website.

It can't be... I have AVG and I don't have any other antivirus program. So why isn't it working still?

Have you used SB before? What are your system specs?

I'm hoping there is something else causing the problem, I'm not to keen on uninstalling my antivirus and I paid for a year service on Norton's and have used Norton's for years with no problems. It's hard to believe that all of a sudden we can't see aircraft, I've been using SB for 3 years or so now myself with no problems in the past. Hopefully it's something else and that we can get it fixed before the event tonight (only 2.5 hours to figure it out)

Make sure all the right ports are not being blocked by your firewall.

I did that, I opened the ports for SB3 on my router firewall and with the norton firewall I told it to allow SB3.

Alright, I finally got the problem fixed, and for those of you who have the same problem, then telling you what I did could help.
Well, either way... I did a system restore to see if it would fix it, and it didn't. However, I did get a message telling me that some files were renamed. I checked the list to see which were renamed, and sure enought it was the SquawkBox files. All the aircraft models, etc were renamed with a (2) after them, and since they were'nt originally installed like this, SB didn't recognize them. I remembered that I had done a system restore the day that the problems had started, because of a problem with my Battlefield. Either way, yep, that was my problem. The files were renamed. All I did was uninstall the Online Flying Kit and delete all the extra an renamed files. Then I reinstalled the Kit and sure enough, everything was fixed. I logged online and saw 3 aircrafts on the ground and asked the controller to confirm they were there and "Eureka!", the said YES! I'm glad I won't have to give up flying online.
