In a previous post, I mentioned that I had a problem with SquawkBox and traffic not showing up. I was later able to fix it, but once again, just days later, the problem has occured again, only that this time I can't fix it. I've spent half a day trying to fix the problem. Well, now to what I need help on. I have found, that since I can't fix SB, I will probably have to reinstall FS completely to see if that fixes it. This would include reinstalling aircrafts, scenery, AI, etc. Either that or simply formatting my harddrive and starting from scratch. And one thing that is on my mind is PSS. Since the PSS site is down, until they fix it, I will not be able to reinstall my PSS 757, as I did not back up my installer files. I would first like to ask if there are any suggestions on getting SquawkBox itself fixed. If that is not possible, is there a way to get my 757 back if I do have to reinstall FS or format my harddrive. Supposedly, PSS is going to make a smaller site in order for those who purchased their products to continue to be able to use them, but they did not give a date on when it will be up, and it could be months. Is there an alternate way of getting their installers?
Note: I am not asking for pirated software... just a way for me to reinstall previously owned software.
Thanks in advanced,
Ricardo

Ricardo. IF your only issue is SquawkBox I would NOT reinstall FS to try and fix it. That sounds more like a internet option problem or something than something in your root FS folder. i highly doubt a reinstall of FS will fix a SB issue.
Have you started a help desk issue on this yet? I had some SB problems last summer caused by a router and they were able to get me sorted out.

What exacly shoud I write ont he issue desk? I thought the issue desk was only for DVA issues. Well, either way, how were YOU able to fix your problem. What is a router? Because my dad just got a box thing (sorry, I'm not exactly a computer expert... LOL) which connects all the computers in the house to the server. LOL Sorry about the words I chose. Could that "box" be the culprit?

Yep, ask your dad, "Is that a router"....if it is, someone will have to show him/you how to open up the required ports to use SB3. They have what you need to do posted on their website and in their forums... I would ask your Dad first, before you go changing all the settings....makes dads happy when you ask first....

OK. I'll ask the computer expert (aka my dad). I'll start looking in the SB site, but to make my life easier, and in case I dont find it, I'll just ask you guys... Link if possible, or ports needed to be unblocked please.

OK. This is what I got out of reading.
For connecting outside your local network, SquawkBox uses TCP port 6809 and UDP port 3290 for outgoing connections only. SquawkBox does not accept any incoming connections. The DirectPlay system used by Microsoft Flight Simulator for multiplayer functionality uses a number of network ports, but those are only used internally for communication between Flight Simulator and SquawkBox.
So, all I need to do is unblock ports 6809 and 3290?
And yes, turns out, my dad did just get a new router. That's why the aircrafts were'nt showing up I guess. I'll post when and if I get it fixed.

OK. I found it imposisble to unblock the ports properly... so all I did was replace my new router with the old one. That fixed the problem. However, this router is shaky and it overheats, etc and simply shuts down sometimes. So I guess we'll just have to get a new router, but the same kind.
