While flying an online event Saturday (KSEA to KSAN), FS9 crashed. This was about 20 min into the flight just east of Portland. I tried to resume but couldn't so I started the flight over. FS9 crashed again at the exact same spot. I was flying the LDS 767 and initially thought the aircraft might be the problem.
I flew later that evening from KSLC to KDEN with the PMDG 738 with no problems and the next day I flew in another group online event from KCVG to CYYZ with no problems. Late last night I flew from KSLC to KPDX and in the exact same are near KPDX FS9 crashed. This time it was with the PMDG 738 so that rules out the aircraft being the culprit.
Just for testing purposes, I tried the KSEA to KSAN route again last night and experienced the same thing; FS9 crashed. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? Very frustrating to say the least. I originally thought that Robby has shot me down because I was ahead of him but he swears that was not the case. This happens at the RAINR intersection east of Portland to be exact.
For information purposes... I flew this route 10 days ago without problems. I have installed the new Gary Widup KSLC scenery since that time.

I sometimes get a CTD (crash to desktop) when I am flying offline and have ATIS tuned in and it comes in range - boom. I rarely use the microsoft ATIS because of this

Do you have FlightZone2 Portland installed by chance? There was an issue with ctd's once upon a time with this scenery.

I do have FlightZone2 for Portland installed but this started before I installed it. I just installed FlightZone but will google this issue just to make sure I don't have two problems. Thanks for the info Bryan.

It doesn''t mean the aircraft is not the culprit, have you tried a freeware plane? Because sometimes your PC runs out of available memory and it is cos the aircraft is payware and made to a high standard. It is good to try that too. If it still CTD's with a freeware plane then try a reinstall.
Cheers

Dan, I'll try a fleet 738 and see what happens but it has happened with both the LDS 767 and PMDG 737.
Maybe there is a Bermuda triangle thing going on here and some Gremlin in my PC is stealing aircraft from me at every CTD.

I have tried all of the fixes I can find on the support boards but the problem still exists. I have a black hole just east of the RAINR intersection near KPDX. I really don't want to reinstall because of some payware issues but I'll do it if I have to.

Is there an option to run a repair install of FS9 so that I don't blow away everything that is installed?

I feel your pain Alan, I can't taxi out at KSLC without a crash! Funny thing is I can land there and taxi in fine (only crashed once on arrival)

Given the abundance of crash-while-taxiing problems in FS9 the simplest solution is to disable crash detection.

Hmmmm... boy do I wish I could turn off this crash.
Just to make sure, I tried the fleet 738 and got the same result; CTD. I'm afraid I'll have to bit the bullet. I better put in my leave of absense now because this is going to take me a while. Joke of course but it feels that way.
