As I wrote in another thread in the PC Support section...
Very soon after installing FSX, my copy of FS9 has completely shut down and stopped working entirely. As soon as I try to switch planes or even hit "Fly Now," I get a rather infuriating "FS9 has encountered an error and must now close" message. I've tried a reinstall, but to no avail. Admittedly, I haven't done much experimentation to diagnose the exact problem. However, when even a reinstall fails to work, something must be seriously wrong.
If installing Service Packs (as a fellow pilot here at DVA has recommended to me) doesn't work, my next step will be to uninstall the game, check the option for removing ALL game files, and reinstalling the game to a completely separate directory. I might make mention of the fact that my Microsoft Games directory HAS, in fact, COMPLETELY disappeared off the face of my HDD before, requiring a reinstall in the past. I also do believe there was another problem that has required me to make a reinstall to a different directory before. This latest reinstall of FS9 that has recently stopped working was actually living in between two directories--"Microsoft Games" and one that I (with satisfaction) named "Microsuck Games." So I'm not entirely surprised, in retrospect, that having it exist in such a form may have been unstable for the game.
If anybody else has any clue as to what I could do to remedy this problem, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Shravan
