The only reason that I know of why FS time would be slower than real world, is if your performance is not high enough. Example, if you are not getting enough FPS to keep it moving in real time. The human eye only needs about 29 fps for the game to appear to be smooth and without lag, but if you are a few frames short of real time, on a long flight those missing frames will add up, and the FS clock will be a little behind the real world by the end of that long flight.
