I am an old school simmer 727/707/MD80/DC10/DC9. I am also a payware junkie, Dreamfleet/Capt Sim/CLS/PMDG.... all I fly, typically, are payware aircraft. I am also a a short flight guy, I just don't have the time for the 5 hour marathon trans-connies.
I have the best of both worlds in the 727 program.............short flights and great repaints
The point of the post is this........ if you like to fly....I mean FLY, VOR to VOR, visual approaches, careful flight planning, and performance charts........and short flight into great airports...and a classic plane.
Take that 727 check ride and pass that test. I really do not think you will find me anwhere else for awhile except in the cockpit of a 727.

Yes . I agree too ,
hand flying is the real fun of FS . nothing like threading your way between navigation points in the soup, no GPS , no FMC , no peeking at the map, and finding your self emerge 500 feet AGL with the runway lights dead straight ahead . what a rush. Doing that for real in the old days of the real northern Freight dogs must have been the ultimate satisfaction .

Hey Don,
I'm guessing pretty soon your signature is gonna show "FO" then "Capt 727." Welcome to the best ship in the fleet...period.
I love it when another pilot's eyes are opened to the fun of less automation, a fist full of throttles and old school navigation.

"Let's not go pickin' our peaches before they're good and fuzzed up." It is just real nice to have the option to log flights in so many great aircraft. I guess the point of my post was more to let other pilots know that.

I couldn't agree more.. I'll be shooting for my Captaincy today if I have the time. The 727 is my pride and joy, baby. Has it all -- round dials, loud engines, a crew of three and extra-pretty flight attendants.

Don't get me wrong Don. I couldn't agree more. Heck, one look at my logbook willl show a pretty good assortment of aircraft. I love the variety too. But I always come back to the 727. There's just nothing out there that beats it. In my not-so-humble opinion anyway.
