Why can't I see others? Or why does everyone look the same?
There are several things that need to happen correctly to make the other aircraft appear in your outside views. Access the VATSIM Pilot Resource Center from the http://vatsim.net home page. Look at the tutorials offered in VATSIM 103. Here are a few additional pointers:
• You need to be connected. Often people are looking for other aircraft, but they have not actually connected to the network. Check your internet connection, server address, VATSIM ID and password.
• Squawkbox and FSInn need to be able to find a multiplayer session. In modules mode SB3 will auto connect for FS2004 users. Please refer to the user manuals for SB3 and FSInn, both available from the PRC and their respective developers web sites.
• With regards to everyone looking the same, this could be the result of a faulty connection or a missed step in the set up and /or installation process. The SB3 user’s forum can be found at http://squawkbox.ca and the FSInn forum is at http://www.mcdu.com
Check your multiplayer range option in Squawkbox and FSInn. It is a common error to inadvertently reduce your multiplayer range to near 0 levels. A range of approx. 40nm is sufficient for most player’s needs, whilst giving the best performance possible in average traffic situations. It can be helpful to reduce the range if you are on the ground in a crowded airport and are experiencing poor frame rates.
