I figured this would be extremely useful to some people, this page shows you how to force fs9 to use both processors on a dual core CPU
It really works aswell, have fun

I don't have a dual core processor, but it does look useful for you guys who do own one.
Thanks Luke

If it actually worked. You cannot spread a single bound thread over 2 CPUs - there's no magic to make something that was single-threaded magically use multiple cores.
Cheers!

Luke, I remember doing this a while ago on my Dual Core Laptop for FS9. From what I gathered on the Notebook Forums, setting the affinity allows the program to utilize the core not being used for processing if the first core is busy. So it is not really using both cores, but there will be a slight performance increase. You could get the same or better perormance if you turn off all those unneeded background processes and programs.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help too much - if it's only using 1 or 2% CPU we cannot tell if it's using both cores. Can you bring up FS9 in windowed mode (not full screen) and then lay Task Manager over it and see what it says? If it's using both cores, FS9.exe will consume over 50% CPU.
Cheers!

Ok, well played around with it for a moment.
After first inspection of affinity, cpu0 and cpu1 were already selected. I did this in the past and it offered the best performance - whether it did anything is another story. So I disabled cpu1, clicked OK. Went back selected both and then got this screenshot. CPU0 dropped immediately from full use to what is showing and vice versa on cpu1. It doesn't look like overall CPU usage has increased - but maybe this increases performance somehow?

This is a nice thread, did check the performance FS9 with Vista and it runs (standard) in dual core.
